Amino Acid Side Effects

Presence of amino acid in human cells is critically vital to our survival, since amino acids are absolutely responsible for protein synthesis. In modern days, amino acid deficiencies are quite common among general population. Mostly women obsessed with size zero appearance and vegans are suffering from such complications as both of them deliberately avoid eating high protein foods. Apart from that, excessive stress experience, drug addiction, impaired absorption of amino acids and insufficient supply of vitamins and minerals may also lead to the same problem.

Importance of Supplements

When someone is diagnosed having amino acid deficiencies, he or she is advised to take amino acid supplements in order to maintain the optimum balance in the system. Quite obviously, side effects of amino acid supplements can be a serious concern for many people. However, the side effects depend on the amount of administration of a particular supplement. In addition, it also depends on the particular type of amino acid administered. In most of the cases, amino acid supplements offer extensive benefits if administered at an advised level. However, there are few like tyrosine that may result in fewer unhealthy symptoms such as irritability, anxiety, racing heart problem, if administered at high dosage.

Branched Chain Amino Acids and Corresponding Side Effects

Isoleucine, Leucine and Valine are the three most important human amino acids. Together these three amino acids are referred to as branched chain amino acids or in short BCAAs. This combination of amino acids is most effective in building and upholding muscle tissues, muscle glycogen storage and muscle breakdown, especially during heavy exercising sessions. People who participate in heavy-duty exercising session prefer to take this combination as supplement in order to improve their performance during exercising activity.

There are no severe adverse side effects reported yet for BCAAs. However, if high dosages are taken, BCCAs typically get converted to other types of amino acids or it may be utilized as energy or it may even be stored in the system as a fat content. People suffering from liver or kidney disorders should not take high dosages of BCCAs without taking any prior advice from their physicians.
